Flughafen Tempelhof, 07. and 08. August. The festival grows, changes slightly and kicks ass!
Besides many positive changes and additions, there is some bad news; unfortunately José González had to cancel his performance due to family reasons. He feels very sorry and hopes to come back next year. Riton also had to cancel his appearance.
But we have a serious new act: the All-Star project Moderat from Berlin will play one of their rare gigs. Also brilliant new is that is that Joe from Hot Chip will willingly surrender himself to us on Saturday and will bring with him one of his legendary sets at 01:30.
Talking about DJs: Conny Opper and his Berlin homies have put together a grand CLUB BERLIN floor, where the most popular DJs from Berlin will spin their favourite records. This floor will take over the old departure area of the airport with a fine view onto the main stage area on the airfield. Pure atmosphere! Here are the brand new confirmed names: A Team (scala), Alan Always (white trash), Buggy (knicken), COOP (berlin bestival), Dennis Ratzlaff (rio/coop), DJ Valis (panic!), Fleshdance DJs (discothec miami), Hugo Capablanca feat. Eric D. Clark (discos capablanca), Kate Boss + X (berlin hilton), Marlon Beatt (scala), Marvin (duscholux/oye rec.), Nic Jagger (easyjetset/vice), Nomad & Maxi Moritz (endlich18!), Okay & Okay (scala), Pony Pop (coop/cookie), Reznik (vice/keine musik),Robin Van der Kaa (david gilmour girls), Salto Mortale (support agency), Yeah Fool! (awesome/villa), The Schlechboys (villa) and many more… Party until midday on Sunday!
And then there are some changes:Junior Boys, Errors and a href=”http://www.berlinfestival.com/artists/frankmusik”>Frankmusik play on Friday instead of the planned Saturday. 1000 Robota will play on Saturday instead of Friday. Anyway, you probably already have festival tickets for both days?
If not: tickets are available at all well-known box offices, CTS-VVK-Stellen and via Tixforgigs: www.berlinfestival.com/tickets
VVK: EUR 49.- zzgl. VVK-Gebühren (Festivalticket Fr. + Sa.)
Check out the line-up here: www.berlinfestival.de/lineup
The festival is also becoming more colourful in the form of art, fashion and a KICKER lounge. Nomad, Paul Snowden and Tagnoe will be presenting their urban art. A photo exhibition from Gerrit Starczewski, “Dancing Shoes” as well as stands with fashion from young European designers. It just keeps on getting better.
The Berlin Festival Kicker Lounge supported by 5 meter and Bolzen has been established by our friends from TIP magazine.

The Berlin Festival which will take place on the former central airport Tempelhof is taking shape and has a firm edge.
There is always something lately to see in or at Tempelhof airport, whether it is an air bridge anniversary, a fashion fair, a firework show, bird watching or an attempted airfield occupation. But a music festival never took place there! Bands and artists like Peter Doherty, WhoMadeWho, Jarvis Cocker, Dendemann, Peaches (DJ Set) and her revelling fans will definitely ensure much better and amazing photos photos from Berlin-Tempelhof.
We figure that a huge, peaceful “Remmidemmi” (hit single of Deichkind for the International crew who don’t know…) will happen for Berliners and fans of the city and of festivals who have travelled a long way.
Speaking of Remmidemmi: the Deichkinder already show us here how much they are looking forward to the big party:
Another argument “For Tempelhof”: Berlin Festival is an all-nighter! Everyone can dance all night on 4 floors to indie and electro-house! Party non-stop.
And we are also delighted to announce that the festival is ‘rain-safe’. Both open-air stages have been designed to guarantee that the audience will stay dry even if it is lashing rain as the complete audience area is covered. But it is still an Open-Air (port) festival.
It can’t be all good news though as two of the confirmed artists have been cancelled at the last minute by their agents. Frankie Knuckles vs. Andy Butler will not play. Due to important commitments in the USA, both of them cannot make their European dates. Florence & The Machine who we had really been looking forward to seeing has also cancelled due to “other commitments”.
But the bottom line is that the festival actually won another act and another dancefloor. Another indie-highlight has been booked to present their new album on Saturday. From the roots of the festival the legendary Club Rio (the video for the Franz Ferdinand song ‘Michael’ was recorded there) and its’ most recent and legitimate successor, Club Scala, will present yet another floor featuring: Hugo Capablanca feat. Eric D. Clark (Discos Capablanca), Coop (Berlin Festival), Dennis Ratzlaff (Rio/Coop), Nomad (Endlich18!), Fleshdance Djs (discothec miami), Okay & Okay, A Team, Marlon Beatt (Scala), Franz Underwear (Slow Motion), DJ Valis (Panic!), DJ Buggy and many more until the early hours!
It really makes sense to buy your tickets as quickly as possible. Hard paper tickets (real, old-school tickets) with considerably lower booking fees are available in these listed shops: www.berlinfestival.com/tickets
If you live in Ireland or the UK, you can easily buy tickets via lastminute.com or in Konfusion, Temple Bar: www.berlinfestival.com/tickets

Just confirmed: José González, Aeroplane, The Rifles, Junior Boys, Digitalism (DJ Set) and many more …
As well as indie greats like Jarvis Cocker, The Thermals, Deichkind and the Danish dance floor heroes WhoMadeWho, other great additions to the 4th edition of the Berlin Festival line-up are Junior Boys, the Swedish Neo-singer/songwriter José González and the hot new Hamburg band 1000 Robota.
The Rifles who have been paid tribute to by the Britpop noble Paul Weller, will contribute as well as the two ladies from Telepathe who will take care of New York-electro-coolness. The Belgian fusion-disco-duo Aeroplane and the amazing Digitalism who will treat us to their legendary DJ set, are also confirmed.

A really special festival deserves a really unique location. The former city airport Tempelhof not only offers a partially covered airfield (and so independent from the weather) but also practical train, bus connections and parking spaces.
Definitely the perfect festival-location „for people who don’t like festivals” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung).
We recommend to all of you to secure your tickets as soon as possible! The complete package price for both days and all dance floors is 49 Euro plus booking costs at all known ticket shops, Tix For Gigs, eventim.de or www.berlinfestival.com/tickets.

New additions to the line-up are These New Puritans, who will play their new album for the first time in Berlin and a special duo: house legend Frankie Knuckles meets his successor - Andy Butler from Hercules and Love Affair will celebrate disco for 3 hours.
And the rest of a line-up: Deichkind, Jarvis Cocker, Saint Etienne, Dendemann, The Thermals, WhoMadeWho, Frankie Knuckles vs. Andy Butler (Hercules and Love Affair), These New Puritans, Florence & The Machine, Kilians, Bodi Bill, Oneida, Bonaparte, Errors, Health, Riton, Berlin Battery ft. “The Berlin Festival is the perfect festival for people who don’t like festivals..wonderful.” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung).
The party goes on …!

25. März 2009
Berlin festival will take place for the 4th time from 7-8 August.
Local talent as well as International acts from the pop world will rock two stages as well as an indoor floor at a location for about 10.000 visitors. Deichkind will play their only Berlin gig for the rest of the year, Saint Etienne will give one of their rare live shows. Dendemann will celebrate exclusively with his band the live-premiere of his new album as well as the horn-rimmed spectacled god of Britpop, Jarvis Cocker! Oneida can only be seen in 2009 in the capital at the Berlin Festival. Also confirmed joining the above acts are The Thermals, die Berlin Battery crew, newcomer Florence And the Machine, Health who just shook up SXSW, Errors, WhoMadeWho, Kilians and locals Bodi Bill and Bonaparte. More international indie heroes, UK-talent, New-Rave-explosions, indie-electronics and DJs will be added to the bill soon.
When you consider that in the last few years acts like the Klaxons, Uffie and Late of The Pier or old heroes like Ian Brown and Echo and the Bunnymen appeared, it seems that the bill will get very exciting.
As the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sunday Newspaper correctly said after the Berlin Festival 2007, it is „the perfect festival for people who don’t like festivals“. It isn’t a field or forest event but one with an open-air feeling in urban surroundings and it comes with all the advantages being right at heart of the capital when an infrastructure, a roof over your head and a warm bed awaits you….or a vibrant nightlife.
